How Do I Change Batteries In My RVLock Remote Fob?

Edited

We offer three different types of RVLock fobs, and each one requires a slightly different process to change the battery. These fobs include:

  1. RVLock Legacy Fob

  2. RVLock New Model Fob

  3. RVLock 2024 ATLAS/TREK Fob

Listed below we have instructions for each fob.

  1. RVLock Legacy Fob
    Step 1: Gather Your Materials
Before starting, make sure you have the following:

    • A 27A battery (available at most stores that sell camera batteries or online).

    • A Phillips #0 screwdriver.

Step 2: Place the Fob Face Down
Place the fob remote face down on a flat, stable surface. This will help keep the internal components in place during the battery replacement process. Do not lift the fob off the surface until you are finished.
Step 3: Remove the 3 Screws
Using the Phillips #0 screwdriver, carefully remove the three screws from the back of the fob. Place the screws in a safe spot, as you will need them to reassemble the fob.
Step 4: Remove the Back Cap
While keeping the fob face down, gently pull off the back cap of the fob. This will expose the battery inside.
Step 5: Remove the Old Battery
Locate the old 27A battery inside the fob. Carefully lift it out and dispose of it properly.
Step 6: Insert the New 27A Battery
Take the new 27A battery and insert it into the compartment, making sure the positive side (the side with the “+”) is facing up, as indicated inside the fob.
    Step 7: Reassemble the Fob
Align the back cap with the fob and press it onto the fob while keeping it face down. Make sure the cap is securely in place.
    Step 8: Reinsert the Screws
Use the Phillips #0 screwdriver to reinsert and tighten the three screws that you removed earlier. Make sure they are fully tightened to secure the cap back onto the fob.
    Final Check
Once the fob is reassembled, test it to ensure the new battery is working properly. If everything functions correctly, your RVLock Legacy fob is ready to use with the new battery!

  2. RVLock Core Fob
    Materials Needed:

    • CR2032 battery (Duracell or Energizer)

    • Phillips #0 screwdriver

    • Core fob remote

    Step 1: Gather Your Materials
Make sure you have a CR2032 battery (Duracell or Energizer), a Phillips #0 screwdriver, and your Core fob remote.
Step 2: Place the Fob Face Down
Place the fob remote face down on a flat, stable surface. It's important to keep the fob lying flat and face down throughout the entire process. This will help keep all internal components in place.
Step 3: Remove the 3 Screws
Using the Phillips #0 screwdriver, remove the three screws on the back of the fob. Be sure to keep the screws in a safe place, as you will need them later to reassemble the fob.
Step 4: Remove the Back Cap
Gently pull off the back cap of the fob while keeping the fob face down on the table. This will reveal the battery and circuit board inside.
Step 5: Locate and Remove the Battery and Circuit Board
Inside the fob, locate the circuit board and battery. Carefully lift the circuit board out and set it aside.
Step 6: Remove the Old Battery
Use the Phillips screwdriver to carefully push the old battery out of its compartment. Gently slide it out and set it aside for proper disposal.

Step 7: Insert the New CR2032 Battery
Take the new CR2032 battery and place it into the compartment. Ensure the battery is properly aligned with the positive side facing up, or as indicated inside the compartment.

    Step 8: Reassemble the Fob
Carefully align the circuit board and place it back inside the fob. Once the circuit board is in place, reattach the back cap. Make sure the fob remains face down during reassembly.

Step 9: Reinsert and Tighten the Screws
Finally, use the Phillips #0 screwdriver to reinsert and tighten the three screws back into the back of the fob, securing the cap in place.

    Final Check
Once the fob is reassembled, test it to make sure the new battery is functioning properly. If everything is working correctly, your Core fob is ready to use!

      What You’ll Need:

    • Small flathead screwdriver

    • New CR2032 battery (e.g., Duracell or Energizer)

Step 1: Prepare the Work Area
Place the RVLock fob on a flat, stable surface to prevent it from moving while you work.

      Step 2: Locate the Notch
Find the small notch next to the tassel on your fob.

      Step 3: Remove the Cap

Insert the flathead screwdriver into the notch. Gently twist the screwdriver to the right. This will cause the cap to pop off.

      Step 4: Separate the Fob

Carefully pull apart the top and bottom sections of the fob.

Step 5: Remove the White Membrane

Locate the white membrane inside the fob and remove it.

Step 6: Remove the Blue Board

Using the small flathead screwdriver, gently pop off the blue board from the fob.

Step 7: Remove the Old Battery

Flip over the power board and use the screwdriver to slide the old battery out of its slot.

Step 8: Insert the New Battery

Take the new CR2032 battery and slide it into the slot, ensuring it is seated properly.

      Step 9: Reassemble the Fob

Reverse the steps to put the fob back together. Place the blue board back in its position. Reinsert the white membrane. Snap the top and bottom sections of the fob back together. Press the cap back into place until it clicks.

      Final Check:

Ensure the fob is fully reassembled and that the new battery is working properly.

That's it! Your RVLock fob should now be ready to use with the new battery installed.
